These are the only parts I could recognize. Without instructions I just didn't know what to do with the other parts?????

A question, Fred: on your sailing school building, did you get the shutters (or material for same) from something other than the schoolhouse kit?

Thom, most of us buy or in my case, given the Preiser people. They are unpainted, but you can buy it painted. Its cost a lot more if you buy it that way. It takes a little practice, but you can paint it so that it fits better in your scene.

I'm surprised and really humbled. I thought my entry would get "special mention" and not actually be in the running. I thank John - the Boss - for taking a suggestion, picking up the ball and running with it, and I thank Stonebridge Models, Karin and Loren, for thier generosity, and really making it happen.
I have recieved several questions regarding the sailing school and will try to answer them here.
Shakes on the roof are actually a zapped down copy of an N scale paper sheet, I got maybe 20 years ago. When you go to the LHS check out other scale material that can be used in Z. Textured paper can be reduced on printers. The paper I used was 44 lb - 9 mil - Epson Premium Matte ( just because I had it ).
Shutters were easy- I used a black magic marker to color the same paper and cut to size. I used Goo to glue them on as it allows shifting in place as opposed to super glue where you have to get it right the First time. Be sure to color the cut edges as they might show. You can make em red, green- any color.
An aside here--I used to check out real estate brochoures ( you usually can get them free at the grocery store ) for windows that could be used on my buildings- again just copy to Z. Could be used for shutters as well...
The signs I made on Office Word I think.. Many different fonts- etc- and reduced to size. Then mounted on thin Evergreen styreen for depth. The sailboats on signs were cut out with a box cutter knife free hand on the above plastic.
I used a pin for a lightening rod, and bent common pins for the "Lights" by the doorways.
The weather vane is brass from Reynard Wellmann ( Appologize for spelling) Micronart.com #01510.
The bitts on the dock area are from Shapeways and designed by Stony Smith.
The building was painted a light wash of grays in hopes to replicate the weathered buildings along the coast - ie- Cape Cod etc. I wanted to keep the lazer clapboard look.

Though not entered in the contest, this crash bash is indeed based on StoneBridge's Schoolhouse and is pictured here to show how far away from the directions some may stray opps! no directions! and for refference for other possible contests. Motif #1 took 1 1/2 schoolhouse kits.

Swamp Hollow is a more standard build.
