No Winner yet, so here's the nex clue. Remember you must be specific.

Clue: I have lettering and aways work with a partner. By the way, I want electronics for Christmas.

I'm thinking one of two things.

First try: Michael Hilliards' hand built electronic automatic crossing signal and gate.

John Bartolotto

I think John's got it with Michael's hand built crossing signal and gate, but otherwise, it sure sounds like a locomotive! (I still wish it was a Bumble Bee though!!!)

I'm still thinking a steam locomotive for some reason, one with a tender then? A mikado?

Well, besides a steam locomotives mechanics going round and round, and back and forth and up and down, a locomotive can also go up and down, and round and round, and back and forth on the tracks. Plus it has a light on its “head” and a bell to make ones ears ring. It also has lettering, and works with a (partner) tender, plus it might also want (DCC) electronics for Christmas. But if I’m right… just WHICH Loco is it???

Prize shown above. We have a winner!!! John Bartolotto. I decided it was close enough to the answer I was looking for, a pair of grade crossing gates. Electronics not included, you have to supply your own animation/detection/flashing system. I'm useing Logic Rail Grade Crossing Pro. The motors go round and round to make the arms go up and down and the pre-installed red leds will flash back and forth. They have light heads, lettering on the crossbucks and one has a bell which a bell cuircuit can make the bell sound. They do have push rods installed to go thru a 2" board or less. They install by drilling a 1/4" hole, the rest is up to you. 4 resistors included for the leds for a 12 volt dc power supply. They are made of brass except for the for the stainless steel post. Value of these gates, priceless. I used to make them and had to get outta the z bussiness since I was only loosing money and z modeling time. I have NO more available. I just happed upon this extra set when looking for something else. Enjoy John and please send your shipping address to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . If you are sill out of the USA they won't ship til after the holidays since I have to stand in line at the post office to ship internationally and the line was out the door when I checked my P.O. Box today. A USA address I can use the electronic machine to ship sooner. Anyway, congradutions. And to all some great and some funny guesses. The next geussing game will be announced soon. Happy Holidayz.

These are far from modern. They are a consortium of various era's to bring pleasure to the eye artisticly and with practical use in Z.

Modern pedestal as opposed to cabinet style. Not modern since the basic design was first patented in the early 20th century.
