Building a silencer for a laser vacuum. was created by tealplanes
One issue with laser engravers is the vacuum exhaust that needs to be strong enough to pull the smoke out, but at the same time not so loud that the neighbors get together and tar and feather you.

So, I've come up with a PVC system that cuts the noise down a whole bunch. It uses 4 and 6" PVC fittings and household batt insulation. This is the same principle of a gun silencer and it works very well.

My exhaust motors have 4" outlets, but any other size vacuum outlet could easily be muffled in the same way.

And if you needed a silencer for a really big gun you have a pair just outside.

I'm sure he's not allowed to say, Alex...so you'll have to wait for the book to come out in about another 18 months.

Way cool, but I'm surprise that you can put those motors outside, bad weather does not come to them?

Mike... I'm already reading the current book that is on the market. B) I thought I read him mentioning Loren in his book. Well... maybe not by name, but in description of words that cannot be repeated on a family channel. Those Navy folks use some "colorful" words to describe their "friends". :pinch:

Ben, he built a removable box to fit over them. He made it out of the same material as the house and painted it to match. We may swap the green one out for another red one....

I wrote "friends", not friends... two different meanings... depending on which end of the barrel you are looking down.
