I'm reminded of a soviet Admiral talking to his American counterpart as they admire a beautiful painting of a placid sea. Andre says to Tom, Ah, the soviet navy... Tom is a little confused since there are no ships in the picture. Andre's explanation:
SUBMARINES.

I'm going to take a picture of the English Channel for submission....
CHUNNEL. Build it and the trains will run thru it!

Fred, for that matter I could take a picture of the PRR keystone and post it with "Shield of an Empire Lost". Although, I do like the simple theme because you would be surprised what you can do with the right light and a little visual perspective.

OMGosh, Fred! Your wife doesn't look at ALL like a Dragonlady. She actually looks like she's more fun than you, if that's possible ;) She's waving to everyone and you're hunched over in your locomotive looking somewhat grizzled and gruff. She definitely looks like a "Sweetie" to me :)

I don't have anything to show for my layout yet. My flex track and other important items are still sitting in Canada customs. But I am curious about the photo contest :)

One does not judge a book by it's cover--- I'm actually prettier than I look.

Terry, I think most items I order from outside Canada get an extended customs tour. I think items that come from inside Canada are also getting the same tour now. What other explanation can there be for a package from Calgary taking eight days to travel 200 miles to Edmonton? Sheesh!

No Dogs and not much snow - just those mailbox units on the side of the street in our new neighbourhood.

Stojiny, Nobody shoots for last. You can't kid me. Focusing programs work like this: You take between 7 and 25 shots of the same photo. You use your manual focus system on your digicam. Your photos are then loaded onto a photo storage program on your computer. I use ZoomBrowserEX. THEN you will click on a $110 Helicon Focus icon on your desktop. This opens your 'focusing' program. This program takes all your photos sequentually and somehow melds them into ONE focused photo from the front of the picture to the back. I use it, Jurg uses it and maybe some others. Our contest will not allow use of these programs for obvious reasons. Do you need this program? Yes, if photography is as important to you as it is to me. No, if your not publishing photos in magazines or blowing up photos to 10x14 for your granny's birthday present. Cheers, Jim CCRR:)

JIM, I'M SURE THAT THERE ARN'T TOO MANY THINGS THAT YOU ARE WRONG ABOUT, BUT THIS IS ONE.
I HAVE TRIED AND SOMETIMES 'WON' THE COVETED LAST PLACE STANDING IN MORE THAN ONE OF THE HOBBIES THAT I'VE BEEN INVOLVED WITH AND IN OVER THE LAST 50 YEARS OR SO. IT'S GREAT FUN, JIM, FOR EXAMPLE, I'VE MODELED THE 'AUTO-GYRO' OVER THE YEARS IN RUBBER, 1/2A GLO, CO2 AND ELECTRIC POWER. THEY ALL FAILED TO FLY AND IN SEVERAL SMALL CLUB SUMMER FLY-INS, I'D ENTER MY CURRENT FAILURE AND SOMETIMES WIN THE COVETED LAST PLACE. I GUESS THAT IT'S A CASE OF 'DIFFERENT STROKES FOR DIFFERENT FOLKS' OR WHATEVER TURNS YOU ON. IT'S BEEN A GAS FOR ME.
MY DAUGHTER GOT ME THIS COMPUTER AND PUT ME ON THE INTERNET IN SEPT OF 2008 AND I JOINED ZCS ABOUT 10 DAYS LATER. YOU TALK ABOUT THESE PROGRAMS AND I'M NOT WITH IT YET AND MAYBE NEVER WILL BE. I STILL DO THINGS THE OLD FASHIONED WAY. THAT VIDEO 'Z SCALE METAL WHEEL TEST RUN',I DID OVER 70 TAKES IN MANY WEEKS BEFORE I THOUGHT IT WAS GUD ENOUGH TO PUT UP ON 'YOU-TUBE'. YES, THERE ARE MANY MISTAKES, BUT I HOPE TO CORRECT MOST OF THEM IN METAL WHEELS II. SEE HOW I RAMBLE ON. BEST TO YOU. STOJINY
